Where do
you put GIS within the state of California?
CGIA is
only just aware of this position is unknown.
It is
important that GIS is recognized within the state.
ACTION:
FGC3/CMC2 Steering Committee meeting to
be coordinated by Robin Marose will meet in the next week or two to get a
response formulated. Gary will contribute the on going ideas/recommendations.
Parcel
data and state wide land information Robin Marose comparing the County data
with the PCTL data. State owned lands pretty good. Federal lands are very
confusing. The report is not public at this time. Robin will check on the status of this to see if we can get it
released. Would like a good incorporated city layer for the state, use tax
rates for the state, but not working. CALTRANS has a responsibility to maintain
city boundaries for the state of California from Tom. Census data is reliable in some areas, not
so reliable in other areas. Tim says census hopes to have this update ability
available through internet.
BIA
(Federal Report) Boundary databases and requests for data Beth Wentstrom.
Databases that were released to the public were from USGS quad sheets. For the
past year BIA has been developing reservation boundaries with BLM cadastral
information. BIA with BLM is looking at a methodology for release of this
information to the public. Data available by special request at this time.
